Himalayan Singing Bowl

Himalayan Singing Bowl

This singing bowl is handcrafted in the Himalayan region using traditional hand-hammering techniques. The bowl is made from a copper-tin alloy; the exterior is left plain or with minimal decoration, and the interior is polished to enhance tonal resonance. When struck with the included wooden mallet or circled around the rim, the bowl produces a sustained harmonic tone.

Materials and Construction:

• Metal alloy: Copper-tin composition; hand-hammered to shape and tune the bowl
• Interior: Polished to a reflective finish to increase tonal brightness
• Exterior: Generally plain, with slight hammer texture from hand-shaping
• Wooden mallet: Included; for striking the rim or creating the circling tone

Sound Profile:

The bowl produces a fundamental tone with two to three audible overtones. The exact pitch is influenced by the bowl diameter, wall thickness, and the specific hand-hammering pattern used by the maker. Low-to-mid fundamental range; suitable for meditation timing or room resonance use.

Use:

• Strike the rim or bowl wall for a single tone
• Circle the wooden mallet around the outer rim for a sustained drone
• Use with a cushion or resonance mat to amplify low-frequency response

Caring for Your Bowl:

• Store in a dry place; remove from damp environments
• Avoid contact with perfumes, oils, or water
• Wipe with a dry cloth after handling to maintain surface

Note: Each bowl is handcrafted; variations in dimensions, wall thickness, and hammer marks are normal. The tone may evolve slightly with use as the metal settles.
