Tibetan Collectible Large-scale Five Deities Thangka

Five Deity Thangka — Large Format

This large-format thangka depicts a five-deity mandala composition, hand-painted on cotton canvas with natural mineral pigments and 24K gold leaf. The composition places five main deity figures within a structured mandala arrangement, with full surrounding retinue figures. Large areas of the painting are finished in gold leaf, giving the thangka a luminous, formal character suited to its large display format.

Materials:

• Canvas: Large-format cotton canvas, traditionally prepared with gesso ground
• Pigments: Natural mineral pigments — vermilion, ultramarine, malachite, azurite — applied in traditional layered wash technique
• Gold leaf: 24K gold leaf applied to large areas of the composition including deity jewelry, mandala geometry, and architectural elements
• Mounting: Heavy-duty wooden dowels; wide silk border for structural support of the large canvas

Visual Description:

The five-deity mandala arrangement places the central figure at the center of a geometric framework, with four additional deity figures positioned at the cardinal directions. Each figure is rendered in full iconographic detail following Tibetan Buddhist painting conventions for the deity type represented. The surrounding retinue includes smaller figures, offering substances, and symbolic objects typical of large-format mandala thangka.

Suitable For:

This large-format thangka is suited to temple, center, or gallery display, or as a significant hand-painted artwork in a large room or meditation space. The gold-leaf heavy composition makes it visually prominent in interior settings.

Note: Large-format hand-painted thangka show natural variation in brushwork and gold application. The overall composition is consistent; individual details vary by hand.
