Bodhi Dzi Mala Beads

This mala is made from Bodhi seed beads and Dzi bead style beads, hand-strung on durable cord. Bodhi seeds are pale cream-colored discs with the characteristic wrinkled surface texture of Bodhi seed material. Dzi bead style beads are elongated barrel shapes with traditional pattern etching. A guru bead and silk tassel or braided cord finish the strand.

Materials:

• Bodhi seeds: Natural Bodhi seed, cut and polished into disc-shaped beads; pale cream to tan; wrinkled surface texture
• Dzi-style beads: Traditional Tibetan-style Dzi bead form; elongated barrel shape with etched patterns
• Cord: Durable braided cord; ends finished with silk tassel or braided cord
• Guru bead: Single larger bead at the mala terminus

Use:

The beads are used for counting during mantra recitation or meditation practice. The standard count is 108 beads; the guru bead marks the starting and ending point.

Use and Handling:

• Remove before water, perfumes, or harsh chemicals
• Wipe with a dry cloth after use
• Store in a jewelry pouch or mala bag when not in use

Note: Natural Bodhi seeds vary in surface texture and color. Every mala is unique due to the organic seed material.

Care Instructions

Wood and bodhi seeds respond naturally to moisture, skin oils, temperature, and regular wear. Their color and surface character may gradually deepen over time.

• Keep it dry: Remove before bathing, swimming, or prolonged exposure to moisture.
• Avoid chemicals: Keep away from perfume, lotion, alcohol, cleaning products, and essential oils unless the product description specifically says otherwise.
• Clean gently: Wipe with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Do not soak, steam, or use an ultrasonic cleaner.
• Avoid extreme conditions: Do not leave in direct sunlight, near heaters, or in very humid places, as natural materials may crack or warp.
• Store with airflow: Keep in a dry cloth pouch or box rather than an airtight container if the piece is still damp from wear.

Natural darkening and a soft patina can develop with handling and are not considered defects.
